About

In a couple of sentences, who is Peggy Tsalikis, where is she from and what does she do?

Peggy is an artist, illustrator and designer working and living in Berlin.

Where does your interest and involvement in illustration come from?

Illustration has been part of my life for as long as I can think. It’s just fun for me to see the world in a colorful and abstract way. I’m a big fan of vintage childrens books and interested in so many different subjects – history, fashion, architecture, photography, music, art, art history, other cultures, colors – so painting to me is a wonderful way to put these topics in a new context. A picture for me is ready when I get in a good mood while looking at it.

Any achievements to date that you’re particularly proud of? A project, some press, maybe significant step in the development of your style?

The interest in my drawings and illustrations has grown and through that there have been some initial publications. I have some large scale pictures hang in a small gallery in Berlin – and I’m very proud of that. Plus there is a small online boutique that is including my illustrations on bags, and that’s on an on-going basis. Those bags with my illustrations are very popular. But right now I’m working on more large scale paintings and my new website with works from the last 2 years (www.candypingpong.com) will be online by the end of the year. I also founded a blog of my inspirations a few month ago – Candy Ping Pong.

Your illustrations have a slight quirk to them, which is nice! Does that represent you?

Well, yes. Of course! I like it colorful and quirky.

If you were able to speak to everyone on the planet at the same time and say just one thing, what would it be?

Live colorful!
