About CANDY PING PONG

ANOTHER ARTIST FROM BERLIN

ANDY WARHOL’S PENCIL AND PAPER

Dear readers, sorry for being absent for such a long time! Almost two month since my last post…I was working on some various projects. Some to earn money and some others to become “rich and famous”…
Beside working my ass off we bought a wonderful piece of land – which took a lot of time. I’m so happy about this, you can’t imagine! It’s pretty close to Berlin near one of the most beautiful lakes around Berlin! No one cared about during the past 20 years – so it was like a jungle when we first saw it – trees and squirrels celebrated a lot of parties there (and I really hope they won’t stop)! That was the main reason why I fell in love instantly, beside a little house which was build in the twenties or thirties and a huge shed! I’m planning to build my studio out there in the woods – silence, lovely flowers and trees are growing, birds are singing, no internet, – best preconditions to concentrate on work! I’m gonna post a few pictures as soon as it is showable. Now, finally, a further contribution to you my dear readers!

CLICKETY CANDY: These unique still-live polaroids were taken by Andy Warhol between 1977 and 1983. He referred to his Polaroid Big Shot camera, which he purchased in 1970, as his “pencil and paper.” A selection of 70 Polaroids was on view at the Paul Kasmin Gallery. What a pity that I haven’t seen the exhibition! You can find more here. Hope you like them! Happy wednesday!

EMBROIDERED WORKS

QUICK CANDY: are the things that have caught my eye somehow, while I’m very busy.
I am always fascinated by embroidered works! Why? Because I would never be patient enough to create these kind of works – I am one of the most impatient humans on this planet! Maybe I should start to embroider somewhen – just to learn how to be patient? More works here!
Hope you are all doing well!

SWEDISH HASBEENS SPRING

STYLE CANDY: What a stunning lookbook! Swedish Hasbeens came out with it for their upcoming spring collection! Cute shoes and handbags – very well styled! Have a happy weekend!

THE ART OF MARIANNE BRESLAUER

CLICKETY CANDY: These portraits by Marianne Breslauer were in the back of my head since a while. I was sketching girls in suits and neckties yesterday. My researches in the net dug this beautiful serie out again. “Marianne Breslauer was a german photographer, born in Berlin. Find out a bit more about her life here. All pictures via the wonderful photoblog “ everyday i show“.

THE ART OF PUUR ANDERS

DIY CANDY: Yesterday I came accross the work of Puur Anders, a designer and stylist from the Netherlands, over at Poppytalk. Poppytalk is a Canadian design blog with a focus on handmade beauties. You can find these beautiful necklaces, brooches and some papergoods, made of fabric printed with an old photograph, in their Shop. Puur Anders named the collection “Hidden Memories”, everything is handmade by her. What a beautiful way to keep your memories close to your heart. Here you can find her Etsy, Blog, Pinterest and Facebook.

THE ART OF LAUREN SCANLON

PAPER CANDY: These beautiful cut outs were made by Lauren Scanlon out of some romance novels she was reading at the age of ten. What an incredible patience! Not only these magnificent papercut works…even the separate book pages were sewn together.

THE SAUGATUCK ART COLONY

Hi friends, sorry for my absence – it just felt so good to shut down the computer and work without the influences of the internet a few days! The Saugatuck Art Colony was one of the first posts I did on this blog – I still love the summery, relaxed and creative atmosphere in the pictures! They’re kind of become my role models when there is a lot of pressure and work. Looking at these pictures always reminds me to work with a little more relaxation. I wish you all a happy weekend!

MSGM PATTERN BATTLE

I was already taken with MSGM‘s current Spring/ Summer collection in a certain manner, but their upcoming Fall “pattern battle” made my heart jump a bit! I decided to show you only the combinations with the pants, because I usually don’t wear skirts…but these skirts make me think it over! So, you should take a look at the whole collection here! Oh, by the way, have you noticed the girls are standing on patterned floors? What a nice detail for the presentation!

CRIMINAL LOOKBOOK

Don’t get me wrong, but imagine a book like this as lookbook for a vintage clothing line! Couldn’t this look beautiful? Handcolored B/W shots, handwritten notes to each piece – written with a quill and black ink. Some marginal notes highlighted, or written with colored pencil – all on vintage paper, of course! And why not TATOOED CRIMINAL GIRLS (oh sorry, even boys) – isn’t naughty the new nice? Unfortunately I don’t know how to get the smell of an old book inside… just kidding. Just a small idea that came to me when I saw this book – must have something to do with my advertising past! A happy wednesday to you all!

Oh, the pages are from a 100 year old record book kept by Detective Inspector Robert Mather of the Manchester Police, comprising a photographic record of criminals known to the Inspector, hand-written details of the appearance, height, eye colour, aliases, offences committed, convictions and prison terms served of 65 individuals.
